Job Description

The Inspector Electrical Systems & Instrumentation oversees the inspection, testing, and verification of all electrical, electronic, automation, and instrumentation systems during the construction of Boskalis vessels at Fujian South East Shipyard and at subcontractor workshops. The role ensures equipment and installations comply with project specifications, vessel specific Flag State and Classification Society requirements (BV and ABS), OEM documentation, and Boskalis internal quality procedures.
The inspector will initially work closely with experienced Boskalis staff to develop full understanding of Boskalis’ expectations, standards, and project workflows.

Responsibilities

1. Electrical equipment installation.
2. Inspect installation of instrumentation & control systems.
3. System testing & commissioning.
4. Inspect installation of navigation, communication & special systems.
5. Comply with vessel specific flag and class responsibilities.
6. Follow Boskalis procedures & quality standards.
7. Coordination & communication with the parties involved.

Requirements

1. Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical and instrumentation inspection for vessel newbuilding, offshore installations, or marine industrial systems.
2. Strong knowledge of marine electrical standards, instrumentation, automation, and commissioning practices.
3. Proficiency in English and Chinese (Mandarin) — spoken and written.
4. Ability to read and interpret:
o Electrical drawings and SLDs
o Cable schedules and routing plans
o P&IDs
o Loop diagrams and wiring schematics
5. Strong understanding of Class rules related to electrical installations.
6. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools such as SharePoint.
7. Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and reporting skills.
8. Strong attention to detail and systematic follow up abilities.

Advantages

1. Experience working with Chinese shipyards is preferred.
2. Industry certifications in electrical engineering, E&I inspection, or automation systems are an advantage.

Working Conditions

1. Based primarily at Fujian South East Shipyard, Fuzhou.
2. Occasional travel to subcontractor workshops for inspections.
3. Long term position supporting multiple Boskalis newbuild projects in China.
